We've got brand new functionality - the ability to connect an employee or contractor to a department.
The departments feature will make it easier to group employees and contractors on the Justworks product. It will also be easier to view who's in the group (much like the office functionality currently works).
In the future, we'll be building out reporting features that will make this feature even more useful.
Employees + contractors can be in departments, but vendors and 3rd part admins cannot be in departments
An employee can only be in one department at a time
Departments are simply buckets of employees.
Currently, there is no hierarchy (like head of department).
Adding a employee or contractor to a department is as easy as specifying which office they work out of (and can actually be found on the same screen!).
We'll make these departments even more useful in the future, with reporting functionality, and the possibility to disburse payments to a department - stay tuned!
